TDDA uses breathalysers that are not only very accurate, but also comply with the relevant Australian standards. Alcohol levels are set by your company and should be outlined in your Drug and Alcohol Policy.
For many companies alcohol abuse is a major problem. This is further complicated by the law that governs what action you may take. Companies employing high risk workers need to take a harder line than those employing office workers.
Testing is generally done using breathalysers. The TDDA breathalysers fully comply with Standard AS 3547-1997 for the measurement of alcohol. Standard AS 3547-1997 relates to the device and not the process, unlike the standards for Urine and Oral Fluid testing. Alcohol levels are set by the company and should be outlined in the company Drug and Alcohol Policy. Country specific drink drive laws must also be complied with.
