Graeme Smith – General Manager
Graeme & Leona Smith purchased the Waikato/Coromandel branch of TDDA in late 2015
Graeme comes from 30 years in the NZ Agricultural sector predominantly in senior leadership positions with Hamilton’s Gallagher Group and fertiliser company Ballance Agri Nutrients including three years as CEO of the Animal Nutrition division of Ballance, SealesWinslow
Leona has held senior administrative roles both in New Zealand in overseas and was the Executive Assistant to the Hamilton Mayor prior to moving to Mount Maunganui in 2000.
Graeme’s experience with drug and alcohol policy development and implementation includes working with The Drug Detection Agency to train managers, supervisors and staff as part of the implementation of the Ballance policy.
“We needed to ensure that we had a sound policy, good consultation and a well-executed implementation of the policy that included pre-employment testing as well as an ongoing post incident and random testing regime. This enabled us to greatly reduce the presence of drugs and alcohol in our business and improve both our Health and Safety performance and overall productivity of the business”
He describes it a “bit like the Remington shaver add on TV many years back.“ He liked working with The Drug Detection Agency so much, he bought the company.
